YARRA YOUTH @ FRONT
The following report discusses the engagement process in detail where key decision-makers from local and government departments, including the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), Yarra City Council (YCC), Department of Education and Training (DET) and lastly a non-profit organisation, Drummond Youth Services (The Drum), engage with local young people of the Yarra City Community with regards to community decision-making. While the traditional process of consulting young people utilises a top-down approach, this strategy provided an opportunity for young people to develop a vision in relation to issues and challenges being faced in their community in cooperation with the key decision-makers. As such, the potential to improve upon key areas and services in the City of Yarra can be actioned by the recommendations proposed by the young people.
